Getting started with hercules eCafe EX HD

Postby ARMnewbie » Thu Mar 29, 2012 8:26 pm

Hello Community,

I bought a 'Hercules eCafe EX HD' (ARM-Netbook), shipped with an heavily patched Ubuntu and Linux 2.6.35. I just want to run Archlinux, but I fail at 'simple' tasks as installing uboot correctly.

The device has an armv7l-CPU (output of lscpu on the recovery-image from manufacturer). There is an internal NAND of 8 GB and a slot for an external SD-card (an a hardware-switch to select one of the two as boot device).

I was able to bootup from the SD-card and copy the tared filesystem I got with the 'ARMv7 OMAP3/4 platforms'-Image. It booted up with the Ubuntu-kernel and the Archlinux-Filesystem.

However, I really need help because this hardware contains so much new things for me, that I just hat to guess more or less what to do.

Could you please give me some tips, good howtos or something else, please?
Greetings, ARMnewbie

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
cat /proc/cpuinfo
lsusb
')

Also, watch dmesg for errors from udev.

Hi, the output cat cpuinfo (from running ubuntu):

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
Processor : ARMv7 Processor rev 5 (v7l)
BogoMIPS : 799.53
Features : swp half thumb fastmult fvp edsp thumbee neon vfpv3
CPU implementer : 0x41
CPU architecture : 7
CPU variant : 0x2
CPU part : 0xc08
CPU revision : 5

Hardware : Hercules eCafe 20110418
Revsion : 51130
Serial : <Serialnumber>
')

lsusub:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
Bus 002 Device 005 : ID 0ac8:0345 Z-Star Microelectronics Corp.
Bus 002 Device 004 : ID 148f:3070 Ralink Technology, Corp.
Bus 002 Device 003 : ID 177a:ff00 <yes, here is white space>
Bus 002 Device 002 : ID 1a40:0201 TERMINUS TECHNOLOGY INC.
Bus 002 Device 001 : ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
')

dmesg is verbose, but it seems there is only 'default stuff' as 'no ipv6-router found' or 'Resume from suspend mode'.
