[solved]extracting rootfs files from archive

Postby armlx » Fri Jun 01, 2012 8:26 am

Hello ,
I´m installing Arch Linux in the Beagleborad XM but when I extract the files from the archive file to the rootfs I get the follwing errors:
tar: ./dev/console: Cannot mknod: operation not permited
tar: ./dev/zero: Cannot mknod: operation not permited
tar: ./dev/null: Cannot mknod: operation not permited
tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous erros

Does anybody knows wht is the problem ?
Thanks

In the end, I believe that devtmpfs populates that, so it should in theory be ignorable.

Were you doing the extraction from another OS, on a laptop or such? What directory were you extracting to? I see that it starts with ./dev...etc, but were you possibly in /?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('xenoxaos', 'W')ere you doing the extraction from another OS, on a laptop or such? What directory were you extracting to? I see that it starts with ./dev...etc, but were you possibly in /?

I extracted now in the same folder without any problems,
thanks
