BeagleBoard with mono

I´m merging some applications witten in C# to the beagleborad xM, but I found some incompatibilities related with XML, datasets and also serial ports when using mono.

Wich should be the best programing languages for these kind of embedded systems (java , phyton ?).
As anybody got problems with mono too ?
