Splitting Ethernet output of dockstar

Postby qq220 » Sat Sep 14, 2013 9:57 am

In my dorm I have a dockstar with arch arm setup to download from an ftp server, then auto share those files with samba.

I'm having an issue with nothing picking up the samba server, and I think that's an issue with the network not supporting it. I was wondering if there was a way to split the Ethernet of a dockstar so one port is connected to the internet and one is connected to a router, then my devices. I can get a Ethernet to USB adapter, but I have no idea if that would even work. I'd appreciate any insight into this.

If you put a router in your room, and connect the wan port of the router to the internet cable and If you connect the dockstar to one port of a router, and connect your other devices to the other ports on the router, then your devices should see the dockstar, and the dockstar should be able to download from the internet.
