BBB Connected with camera in a Mailbox Post

Postby archsidhu » Sun Sep 29, 2013 6:29 pm

I want to put a Beaglebone Black with a small camera inside an ordinary wooden mailbox post. Every time someone stops at the box, it senses motion and snaps a pix and sends it to multiple emails. Power and network are not a problem since the post is not far from home. We share the post with our neighbors so the email will go to them as well.

The purpose is two-fold - to notify when mail comes and to record if someone is doing anything funny. I could do a weight sensor in the box itself as an alternative but that will not identify the person.

a) Has anyone here done this kind of application?
b) Does anyone here know of a small camera which has a motion sensor?

No replies,

The main thing I need is a small camera like one on a phone. Has anyone hacked a phone and put Arch on it?
