FTP advise please

Postby g8jvm » Sun Jun 29, 2014 3:31 pm

Hi
I have an IPcam on the network here, but its only capable of ftp without encryption.
Arch is installed on the pogopig, plugE02,
incidentaly "dig pogopig" shows an external ip address.
There is some firewalling on the router, but not 100%, any normal file transfer is by sftp using gft from one of the other machines.
What I'd like to do is restrict port 21 to access from just one MAC address. ie that of the IPcam, so that the pics sent via ftp to the pogopig can not be accessed by ftp on port21. or any other data .

I'm not sure really how to do this, maybe with iptables.
maybe I'm being paranoid, but I'm seeing a few reports of Tenvis IPcams talking to extenal sites, I have seen any evidence on
traffic flow to show this is happening on my network.
But considering on the IPcam there will be a user login and password for the pogopig(plug), it leaves a hole that someone could upload some unwanted data.

Any suggestions please
Thanks
Best wishes
Richard

Then again if somebody really wanted to then they could spoof the mac, but you probably already know this. Does it support samba at all? I know mine does and supports password authentication.
