Can't login after -Syu. Alarm/alarm not working either

Hi. I just did an upgrade of all packages, and now cannot login back in. Using Alarm on a Pogoplug v2. I searched through the forum, and found the two links that everyone is using to fix this problem, which is to login in with alarm/alarm on initial login and change the PermitRootLogin. However, the user/password of alarm/alarm is not working for me either. Still just getting access denied after I enter the password. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

alarm:alarm login is only for new installation. You are updating an older installation where no such login was setup. Did you have any users setup at all?
If not, you have 2 options:
1. Use another (any) linux machine to edit /etc/ssh/sshd_config
2. Use another armv5 device or rescue system if you installed it to chroot and create a user account and/or allow root login.
