Debug core using GDB

Postby mnifirmware » Wed Apr 11, 2018 3:22 pm

Hi Friends,

We are using a ARMv7 device running linux 4.1 kernel.
There was a crash in userspace which generate core file.

While we try to debug the core using GDB, we are getting the below error,

((gdb) target core /home/mni/core
"/home/mni/core" is not a core dump: File format not recognized
(gdb) bt
No stack.

We took a hexdump we find the ELF header and content, but unable to run GDB on it.

Can you please help us resolve this issue.

Thanks in Advance,
Mani

What does gdb --version say? Is your GDB configured for 32-bit ARM?
The gdb that we received as part of crosstools-arm-gcc-5.3. and the version is 7.10.1. "This GDB was configured as "---host=i686-pc-linux-gnu --target=arm-buildroot-linux-gnueabi"
