Raspberry Pi 3b+ Wifi-connection unsuccessful

Hey y’all,

I wanted to try out Arch Linux because I found the Idea of creating an own GUI on a lightweight system very cool.

Anyways, after completing the setup, I have one major problem: I can’t connect to my WIFI network. After searching around for one solid afternoon, I tried many ways like wifi-menu, iw, wpa-supplicant and so on. All those tutorials didn’t work as when trying to ping any host the output says something like “host unknown”. Plus, pacman doesn’t work so I guess there is no connection to the Internet. But, confusingly, wlan0 lists a connection with my wifi after completing those tutorials.

Anyway, I still can’t connect to the Internet. Raspbian and Co always worked fine. I set them up with wpa-supplicant.

I would be so happy to get help on my problem!

Hi Friedrich,
I think you need to use one of the network managers (search the arch wiki for network and network manager) to setup your network.
I choosed systemd-networkd.service. You may also use e.g. netctl to setup your network interfaces.
wpa_spplicant represents only the wifi driver so to say it doesn't enable and configure your interface.

But, unfortunately, I already tried netctl several times
But I will try again tomorrow and share the results with you!

if nmtui from terminal does not show wifi
from terminal run

if you have X or wayland with a menu bar that show tray
run nm-applet..
