INFORCE 6540 ARM support or doing myself

Postby Whitz » Fri Jun 17, 2016 2:06 pm

Hello Users,

I'm currently using an Odroid C2 with Arch ARM for my camera software. I think the Hardware is not as good as it could be so I'm trying to switch to the much more stable Inforce 6540.
I can officially run Ubuntu ARM on the Inforce, which doesnt support the packages I need. Arch does.
So heres my question.
Is there any chance getting Arch running on the Inforce 6540 even if its not officially supported?
Did anyone already did it?
Otherwise what are the steps to get Arch ARM running on any not supported device? Is there any guide telling what to do so I can start porting it myself?

Thanks alot,
Whitz

bootloader, kernel, rootfs tarball.

Bootloader: if it is running ubuntu, it probably has enough of one already available for use

Kernel: you'll need something that properly supports the needs of systemd (relatively fresh kernel version), and if possible, use linux-armv7 (mainline)

Tarball: there is a generic (using mainline kernel) for each architecture, use that as your based, and modify from there.

Ok, so now those are the files I have to modify. But in which way? I just download the generic arm v7 kernel right? Bootloader is already on the board so I don't have to modify this, except maybe the path to the boot file right?
What's that rootfs tarball?
How does it work and what is it doing?
