nfs-server will not start

Postby georgebrough » Sat May 14, 2011 12:25 am

Hi,

I have followed the details here to set up the NFS server https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NFSv4 however when I run "/etc/rc.d/nfs-server start" I get the following message.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
:: Mounting nfsd filesystem
FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.37/modules.dep: No such file or directory
')
I've got the same machine (dockstar) running as a client OK.

Can any one help please?

Thanks

George

Looks like you've updated the kernel but never rebooted. Reboot and see what happens.

A reboot has sorted the problem out. How could you tell that's what I needed to do from that error message?

Thanks for your help :-)

When you install a new kernel, not only /boot/uImage gets replaced but all the matched /lib/modules
I could imagine odd modules being missing, but that is a basic file with info on all modules

You could have done uname -a and seen the kernel version doesn't match what's in /lib/modules
