Migrate from ARM to 64 bit desktop

Postby woody » Wed Feb 15, 2017 4:06 pm

I want to migrate my existing Pogoplug ARM installation to a standard Arch Linux distribution in a VM on an AMD 64 desktop. I know that one way to do this would be to install a new Arch Linux distribution on the VM machine, then move over the applications manually. I would like to know if there's a way to move the disk image of the Arm installation to the new server and reinstall only the things that are different.

I realize that this may be a bridge too far, but I'd like to get opinions on the most efficient way to do this.

You can't just move binaries from architecture to the other. You will have to reinstall the packages and move over the config files only (as they are not binary but text and architecture independent)
