Is there a convenient way to install gcc6 ?

Postby codelast » Sat Jul 22, 2017 10:52 am

Hi everyone, I'm using Arch Linux ARM on Raspberry Pi 3:
Linux version 4.9.36-1-ARCH (builduser@leming) (gcc version 7.1.1 20170516 (GCC) ) #1 SMP Fri Jul 7 02:16:47 UTC 2017

Due to some reasons I have to use gcc6 to compile some source on my Raspberry Pi 3.
So, is there a convenient way to install gcc6(may be as easy as pacman -S xxx) ?
Thanks a lot.

old gcc-versions you find here: http://tardis.tiny-vps.com/aarm/packages/g/gcc/
to install, you have to use something like pacman -U xxx

Ideally, you'd actually compile a re-named package, rather installing an older package. As GCC 7 is the current main package, you'd have a separate package that build as `gcc6`, and all related packages.

Convenience isn't necessarily simple.
