amule not writing to proper folders.

Running amule on a Raspberry Pi 3, all is well except that amule won't write to the designated folders and opts for the default values.

ERROR: Error accessing directory. Could not create the temp directory at '/home/alarm/Mula/Temp'.
Attempting to use default directory at location '/var/lib/amule/.aMule/Temp'.
Error: Directory '/home/alarm/Mula/Complete' couldn't be created (error 13: Permission denied)
ERROR: Error accessing directory. Could not create the incoming directory at '/home/alarm/Mula/Complete'.
Attempting to use default directory at location '/var/lib/amule/.aMule/Incoming'.')

Any idea what could be causing this problem? Wonder if I have to change permissions to the user amule or the folder itself?
Suggestions are very welcome.
