Switching from mesa to a proprietary opengl

Postby dkasak » Tue Aug 01, 2017 11:40 am

Greetings.

I've been trying - unsuccessfully - to get 3D acceleration working with mesa. I suspect the drivers aren't quite there yet. I'd like to switch over to the proprietary imx-gpu-viv-x11 driver. Here's what happens:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '[root@alarm ~]# pacman -S imx-gpu-viv-x11
resolving dependencies...
looking for conflicting packages...
:: imx-gpu-viv-x11 and mesa are in conflict (mesa-libgl). Remove mesa? [y/N] Y
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: enlightenment: removing mesa breaks dependency 'mesa'
:: gtk3: removing mesa breaks dependency 'mesa'
:: libglvnd: removing mesa breaks dependency 'mesa'
:: libglvnd: removing mesa breaks dependency 'opengl-driver'
:: xorg-server-devel: removing mesa breaks dependency 'mesa'
[root@alarm ~]#
')

Is it true that some packages have mesa as a hard dependency? I would have expected these packages to depend on some opengl implementation, and mesa and others to provide an opengl implementation.

More specifically ... how do I switch to this driver without breaking or uninstalling things?
