Dnsmasq dhcp-hostsfile location?

Postby jeajea » Fri Aug 11, 2017 1:54 pm

Is there a standard/recommended directory to store the files
for dnsmasq reserved MAC to IP mapping for each DHCP range?

dhcp-hostsfile=

Currently I am using /usr/local/bin/

This seems to have been answered at http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r315599 ... e-location

The Arch Wiki does not directly cover this question, but I would generally agreed that `/etc/dnsmasq.d/` or even `/var/lib/dnsmasq/` are viable options, which don't exist by default and will not conflict with the package.

Thanks for the reply.

I decided on a variation of nwrickert’s suggestion.

https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r31559 ... n#31560241

I created a new directory dns-masq in /usr/local.

The files aren’t executable and shouldn’t be in the default path.

The option contains the full path in case I forget where the files are.
dhcp-hostsfile=/full/path/file

There doesn’t appear to be a recommended location.
