No sound

Postby teytur » Fri Jan 05, 2018 9:31 pm

Hey so I just installed ArchLinuxARM on my RasPi 3 and I don't have any sound.
I am using PulseAudio Panel Plugin with pavucontrol.

What I have tried:

$ sudo /usr/sbin/lspci | grep -i audio
pcilib: Cannot open /proc/bus/pci
lspci: Cannot find any working access method.

$ sudo aplay -l
aplay: device_list:272: no soundcards found...

$ sudo modprobe snd-hda-intel
modprobe: FATAL: Module snd-hda-intel not found in directory /lib/modules/4.9.73-2-ARCH

$ lsmod | grep snd
snd_bcm2835 21570 0
snd_pcm 87826 1 snd_bcm2835
snd_timer 21638 1 snd_pcm
snd 60574 3 snd_timer,snd_bcm2835,snd_pcm

$ speaker-test

speaker-test 1.1.5

Playback device is default
Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 1 channels
Using 16 octaves of pink noise
Rate set to 48000Hz (requested 48000Hz)
Buffer size range from 192 to 2097152
Period size range from 64 to 699051
Using max buffer size 2097152
Periods = 4
was set period_size = 524288
was set buffer_size = 2097152
0 - Front Left
Time per period = 12.518947

ls -la /dev/snd/
total 0
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 80 Dec 21 12:31 .
drwxr-xr-x 15 root root 3400 Jan 5 01:15 ..
crw-rw----+ 1 root audio 116, 1 Dec 21 12:31 seq
crw-rw----+ 1 root audio 116, 33 Dec 21 12:31 timer

Everything is definitely UNMUTED and I have tried using headphone via monitor jack and jack on raspberry itself. No sound. Any ideas?

EDIT: Am also in audi group

id alarm
uid=1000(alarm) gid=1000(alarm) groups=1000(alarm),10(wheel),92(audio)

Without hdmi_drive=2 you should get sound from the jack on the rpi.

Besides all info other provided, don't forget to unmute your channels after a fresh install.
After installing alsa-utils (if you didn't already), type "alsamixer" into a Terminal and unmute (with the M key) the channels "Master" and "PCM".
