LVM2 boot stuck

Hello,

after some updates today now my raspi 3 is stucked in an endless
"a start job is running for monitoring of LVM2 mirrors, snapshots, etc. using dmeventd or progress polling (24234234231423423min 23s / no limit)".

here some additional information:
- on this system i have completely no (filesystem) encryption at all
- there is a usb-hdd attached, here my fstab:

/dev/mmcblk0p1 /boot vfat defaults 0 0
/dev/sda1 /home ext4 defaults 0 1
/dev/sda2 /srv ext4 defaults 0 2

- i have tried to delete the crypttab. it had no effects, crypttab just respawns (with everything commented out, that should be ok).
- until today, this system has been working for about half a year now.
