Why some USB flash drives don't work ?

Postby haiku » Tue Jun 21, 2011 5:56 pm

Hi everyone,
I've purchased a new USB flash drive (Transcend JetFlash 620 8GB) but for an unknown reason, i can't get Arch Linux ARM working with it..
I've another old 2GB (Transcend V30) and i can boot into Arch Linux ARM Linux with no problem. I followed the same procedure on my Pogo.. I even tried several times. Do you have an idea ? What can be wrong ? :geek:
thks, Bye

I think some just load more slowly. Like some may have some proprietary crap in them that requires a little more time before the plug can access what's inside. I use to have my jumpdrive as OS and HDD as storage but every reboot I'd have to disconnect the HDD because that loaded faster than my jumpdrive. This is coming from a PPPro, though.

I know there's some option called blparam that allows disks to be loaded at different intervals/sequences, but I think it would only work once you have your Arch Linux ARM actually running.

Well, I just bought a new one, it was suppose to be faster. I'll try to wait more longer but i doubt it will ever boot :?
I prefer flash drive to stay as a low powered device.

oh well, it boot into the NAND .. :?
