[RESOLVED] PogoplugPro, No SSH after install

Postby PKG » Thu Jun 30, 2011 10:38 pm

Hi,

I recieved my pogoplug pro yesterday and i installed Arch Linux ARM on it.
But since the reboot I haven't been able to SSH into my plug.
I installed it on a usb stick. 1GB.
When my usb stick is plugged in i get a green light (not blinking).
When I boot it up without an usb stick it keeps blinking.
It shows up in my DHCP client list as alarm (ArchLinuxARM I guess...).
I get messages like connection refused and timed out.
I scanned ports 1 through 1024 but none were open. The installation process went well.
How do i get my SSH connection back?

Can't be a resolv.conf problem since your router sees it, therefore no networking issue. You say a port scan showed no ports opened? Open the usb drive on another comp and check the /etc/ssh/sshd_config file to make sure "Port ##" is commented (lets it go back to default 22) and reboot the plug with the drive back in.

All else fails: try reflashing the rootfs to the usb drive. (the HELP! IT STOPPED WORKING option in the wiki/installation page)

The ssh config file was completely commented.
I formatted the disk to ext3 using gparted on puppylinux livecd in parallels
I opened up the console and typed su root, did not ask for password.
I unpacked it with tar -zxvf arch.tar.gz (renamed it)
Then i created the file mac_addr in the usr/local dir with the mac adress in it in lowercase.
Now my pogoplug keeps blinking the green light. Did i miss something here?

Not at all, mate. Check out http://archlinuxarm.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=1156&start=10#p7567 for info how to stop it.

Cheers!

Edit: created link for latest process of ridding the blinking light.

Hi I'm having the same problems that PKG was having. However, after redoing the steps for the "Help! It stopped working" section, I'm still having the same blinking light/no SSH issue.

I was wondering if anyone has any idea what PKG did differently the second time around to get it to work.

Thanks in advance.

This is one of those things I may be better able to do via IRC

Ok:

For those of you who run into this, we solved the problem of the network not coming up, by duplicating network in the DAEMONS line of rc.conf.

I'm not sure of the cause yet, but this essentially causes the network to restart, and well, makes it work.

I just formatted as EXT3 and extracted the files to my usb stick, then put my mac address in the file (can't remember which one) and it worked.

Also, ignore the blinking light, wait a couple of mins and try to ssh again
