Moving system from Arch Linux to Arch Linux ARM?

Postby spease » Sat Jun 15, 2019 2:50 am

Is it possible to move an Arch Linux system to Arch Linux ARM?

I just became aware of the Lenovo Yoga C630 and was curious how viable it would be to consider using it as my laptop. Currently I'm running Arch Linux vanilla.

Thanks.

Like any Linux, you install the OS core then packages then user files (ie /home/you) which should cover your settings, so moving from x86_64 to armv7h or whatever isn't hard at all.

Ah, so it’s more or less a distro switch rather than migrating the existing packages?

I’m currently using yay for AUR packages. I know it’s probably impossible to predict for every single package, but does the AUR in general play nice with ARM?

Yes, x86_64 to armv7h or whatever is completely different. Arch != Arch ARM.

As long as the software is able to be built for armv7h or whatever, yes.
