Problem on lauching lxde & xfce

Postby Bob » Sat Jul 23, 2011 1:34 pm

Hi,

first thanks for this arch distrib !!!

I'm working on an apf27 board (armv5)
http://www.armadeus.com/english/product ... apf27.html

I've install X with a little modification in order to have my screen on and now it's ok.
So I install lxde or xfce with pacman and test those DE (30s< to start) without any problem both on root ans standard user.

Then I reboot the board and start xfce or lxde from console and I've some problems :
- Message shows that X is starting but the screen shut down => unplugging and replugging the hdmi makes the screen back
- DE starts but very very very slowly (up to 15 mins ...) and nothing is working : just background image and mouse

When I reinstall with pacman the DE very thing is good untill the next reboot ...

Do you have any idea ?

Thanks
Bob

So hal wasn't installed .... done
If I log in root then I have xfce, on normal user not (maybe this is a group problem)
I can see also that xfce appears only when I have this message on the init (up to 5 min after startxfce4):

udev : unable to receive ctrl connection: Function not implemented

and udev cost me a lot of cpu power before this message

Thanks for your help

That udev message... it's a problem from the kernel you are running. Are you booting the v5 kernel from our repo, or something more custom? If it's custom and you can't boot from our standard v5 kernel, then consider using udev-oxnas, (this is patched to not use sys_accept4
