PPTP Server.

Postby flat5security » Wed Jul 27, 2011 4:39 pm

Hi, I currently got a pogoplug pink v2 e02 which I want to use as a pptp server.

I followed the following guide letter for letter and I still can't seem to connect to it.

Anyone else have any luck?

Best wishes,

Well, it doesn't seem to work with this coming up in the /var/logs/messages.log

Aug 21 02:26:10 alarm pppd[1413]: pppd 2.4.5 started by root, uid 0
Aug 21 02:26:10 alarm kernel: [ 1740.223049] PPP generic driver version 2.4.2
Aug 21 02:26:10 alarm pppd[1413]: Using interface ppp0
Aug 21 02:26:10 alarm pppd[1413]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/pts/1
Aug 21 02:26:40 alarm pppd[1413]: LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests
Aug 21 02:26:40 alarm pppd[1413]: Connection terminated.
Aug 21 02:26:40 alarm pppd[1413]: Modem hangup
Aug 21 02:26:40 alarm pppd[1413]: Exit.

The problem is likely "LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests" which according to google is a problem with GRE packets not getting through.

I have confirmed that it is on the DMZ of the router and there is no problems with the IPTABLES rules.

Anyone else managed to get a PPTP Server running on a pogoplug?

Best wishes,

There is the possibility that we are missing kernel features to make it happen. I added a lot of networking options in the latest 3.0.3 kernel released a day or two ago. Try upgrading and see if that solves anything, or maybe see if it is needing a specific kernel option to actually work.
