HP CHROMEBOOK 11 audo issues

Postby mactuan12 » Mon Jan 13, 2020 4:45 am

I recently got a HP Chromebook 11 and put Arch on the eMMC.

The audio worked for a day or so and then stopped working entirely. I reinstalled Arch and it happened again, and I rebooted after installing each new piece of software to make sure it wasn't something like mpv interfering somehow. Worked in the night before going to bed, doesn't work in the morning. Speakers don't output sound, headphones plugged into the jack don't output sound, and the Chromebook's mic doesn't input anything either.

As far as I can tell there is nothing wrong with ALSA or PulseAudio, it detects my card and in pavucontrol it shows sound being "created" although I can no longer hear it. In addition I have a USB headset which works perfectly (input and output).

Do you think this is possibly a hardware issue? The chromebook was a refurb model for cheap (just something to play around with) and I didn't have ChromeOS on it long enough to notice any audio issues.

Strangely, doing "rm -r ~/.config/pulse" worked for a single reboot, and then the sound was gone again (after doing nothing but rebooting again).
