Docker image for ArchlinuxARM

Postby ossdev07 » Fri Mar 20, 2020 6:14 pm

Hi,
Archlinux dockerimage presented on docker hub is not supporting ARM64.
We have created a base archlinux docker image for ARM64 and tested it locally by creating the docker container.
Can you suggest further actions to merge our ARM64 dockerfile and docker image in the docker hub for ArchlinuxARM?

Probably nobody here will answer on this, because nobody feels responsible for it. The reason is as far as I know, the archlinuxarm project is only indirectly connected to the main Archlinux for x86_64, in other words no "official" part.
The docker hub with the accordingly github repository is managed by the main Archlinux developers, so you would need to reach out to them.

Thank you for the reply.
I already reached to archlinux project, they suggested to contact ArchlinuxARM project for ARM64 docker image as ArchLinux doesn't support any other architecture than AMD64.

Ah ok, but wouldn't that automatically mean, that it can't be merged to the AMD64 account anyway if they are refusing it?

I've got two NVIDIA Jetson developer kits - a Nano and a Xavier AGX. Both have arm64v8 Tegra multi-core CPUs and NVIDIA GPUs, both run Linux for Tegra (L4T), which is Ubuntu Bionic plus NVIDIA drivers and applications, and both have the NVIDIA container runtime, so I can use / test Docker images without needing an emulator.

So I'm also looking for an Arch Linux ARM Docker image. I've found a few on Docker Hub that look promising / have enough documentation on GitHub to be worth adopting if Arch Linux ARM wants to do so.

https://github.com/lopsided98/archlinux-docker
https://github.com/samip5/archlinux-docker

I'm planning to test these out over the weekend and see whether they will do what I need. I'll post to this thread when I have some results.
