Moving from RPI3 to RPI4

I would like to replace my Raspberry Pi 3 with a RPI 4 without having to install the OS from scratch. Is there a way to upgrade the existing installation on the RPI3 such that it will boot on a RPI4? It can't be as easy as installing the package linux-raspberrypi4 on the RPI3 and then moving the card to the RPI4, can it?
