Access newly flashed ARM Arch SD card over SSH

Postby thor314 » Thu Jul 16, 2020 6:01 pm

Possibly dumb question. I'd like to SSH into a raspberry pi 4 with a newly flashed ARM Arch SD card. I don't have a monitor handy this time around, so I'd just be taking an ethernet connection and ssh'ing in. I've read that Arch does not come with OpenSSH pre-installed.

How would I manage this on the SD card in advance of trying to SSH in?

If it's relevant, I'm setting this SD card up on MacOS.

As good general advice, don't trust guides you read that aren't the official documentation. Arch ARM images ship with openssh enabled by default and you can connect as the default 'alarm' user if using an official image.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('https://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv8/broadcom/raspberry-pi-4', '
')Use the serial console or SSH to the IP address given to the board by your router.
Login as the default user alarm with the password alarm.
The default root password is root.
