Planning on buying Pogoplug to install ArchLinux on...

Postby gits4real » Fri Aug 05, 2011 1:53 pm

I am definitely going to buy a pogoplug in the coming week, so I can use it as a webserver instead of using my HP EX Home Server...

I have spent about two days researching on and off. I am looking at either the POGO-E02 or POGO-P01 so I can install archlinux.

Is the CPU upgrade worth the downgrade in RAM in the P01? I plan on using the device to server as a small webserver, ssh, ftp, vpn-host, and a potential remote-torrent client. I probably won't use the wifi ability of the POGO-P01 if I bought it, but at ~10USDs I get esata support... what do you guys think?

Thanks :)

The different really is in support. The Oxnas line has less memory, but higher multi-threaded performance, with obviously lower single-threaded performance. Big downside: kernel version 2.6.31.6 atm, and no help in patching it to mainline. This means fewer supported modules, issues with newer kernel headers.

I really appreciate the quick response!

You have convinced me to grab the Pink E02 model, :).
