Support for RK3399

Postby exponentialverteilt » Tue Apr 26, 2022 12:12 pm

Hi,
I'm using ALARM on many Rapsberry Pi 4 for a while now. Due to availability, I would like to move to a RK3399-based SBC, for instance the RockPro64, OrangePi 4 (LTS), ...
I also would like to help on getting the device supported. That's why I checked the Github issues and found a few PRs regarding support of new platforms:
https://github.com/archlinuxarm/PKGBUILDs/pull/1815
https://github.com/archlinuxarm/PKGBUILDs/pull/1753
https://github.com/archlinuxarm/PKGBUILDs/pull/1622

kmihelich closed the PRs with the comment that the platforms are not supported. I tried to figure out how to achieve getting a platform supported in ALARM, but unfortunately I couldn't find anything. Would anyone care to explain why for instance RK3399 is not supported?
The predecessor Rock64 seems to be supported according to the wiki

Best regards

Beside the whole bootloader stuff, the generic aarch64 rootfs works perfectly well. I'm running ALARM on my RockPi4 since years.
The bootloader is copied from some random image.

Manjaro ARM is derived from ALARM and supports the RockPro64. Adding their uboot-rockpro64 package should suffice.
