Sync Tool

Postby Hardworking » Fri Nov 25, 2011 3:29 pm

Hi all,

Does anyone know of a Sync tool that I can setup on my GoFlex Net to kick off a sync when I plug a USB drive in.

Basically what I want is to be able to plug in a USB drive, and have the system backup all my files from the NAS. I want it to be smart though and only copy over what has changed, and not the entire structure.

This will allow me to keep a copy of my data off site.

Cheers
J

Thanks,

But I what I want is the sync to happen when I plug the drive in - Automatically! I don't want to have to go and run it every time.

Agreed.

You would build a udev rule that triggered a script that ran rsync :geek:

Thanks! :)

I am madly Googling away, and gaining some great experience. This is my first jump into Linux, so there is much to learn.

If anyone can help me out I would be grateful.

I would really like to get some sort of syncing happening but can't seem to work it out.

Thanks

Anyone? I have come up empty on this one, and I really need to get this sorted..

I basically need something to do the following;

Detect when the USB drive is plugged in THEN...
Sync data between my NAS and the USB Drive THEN...
Send me an email with the results.

Surely there is something or someone out there that has something that could do this? :|
