Which PogoPlug to choose?

Postby narwhal » Wed Dec 14, 2011 6:27 pm

I have TWO different pink pogoplugs. a new B01 (dual core but only 128MB RAM--currently the Arch box) and an original E02 (single core w/ 256MB RAM--currently the Pogo box).

My goal is to spin down my old linux x86-server and replace it with one of these running ArchLinuxArm. Services on the Arch box will be: netatalk+tm, NFS, samba, apache w/ SSL. The other would stay up as a Pogo since I really like the sharing abilities and remote access w/o VPN to the house.

SOOOO, the question is, for running ArchLinuxArm, WHICH of the two is a better choice? Since both seem to run fine as "pogo"s... (I am guessing I have them backwards and that the extra RAM w/ only one proc is a better Arch choice, but open to ideas.)

Thanks for any input!

It's generally a tradeoff that I would lean towards the application.

With that said..
- NFS is funky on the oxnas :ugeek: hopefully that will be better after we get 3.1+ running
- Apache is a beast, and SSL doubly so :geek: . Do your own performance tests. If possible, get the F off apache.

Thanks! I don't suppose you (or someone else) could point me to instructions to revert my Arch B01 back to a Pogo before I migrate the E02 to an Arch?

Thanks all!
