CUPS Problem

Postby superfly » Sun Jan 15, 2012 2:49 pm

I'm up to the point where I'm suppose to specify a driver for the printer in the CUPS web GUI. The problem is my printer isn't listed; HP Photosmart C4680. I unistalled the gutenprint drivers and installed hplib instead. No the problem is I get; Unable to get list of printer drivers: Unkown. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Ideally if someone knew where I could just get the specific PPD file and the just get rid of hplib as well; no sense in having a bunch of print drivers installed im not going to use.

According to the error log this is the problem:

E [15/Jan/2012:15:57:17 -0500] Syntax error on line 1 of remote.cache.
E [15/Jan/2012:15:57:17 -0500] Unable to set ACLs on root certificate "/var/run/cups/certs/0" - Operation not supported

There were also some errors regarding drivers but I deleted them and now those are resolved. Any help with the above would be appreciated.

Can anyone offer any help? I'd really like to get this working. I don't know what to do at this point. I unistalled cups, cups-pdf, hplip, and gutenprint as well as dependencies. I reinstalled cups, cups-pdf, and hplip and I get no where. It is still saying unable to get list of printer drivers. I would really appreciate any help I can get.

I never was able to get my printer going. I decided to come back to this and see if I could figure something out. I am now getting an "Internal Server Error" when trying to access the admin or printer page of the CUPS web interface. It only started doing this after a recent pacman -Syu. Any ideas please?

I have the same problem. I used hp-setup. It allows you to specify a location of the driver manually.

I searched the drive for the specific file and copied the address. try /usr/share/ppd/HP/hp-photosmart_c4600_series-hplis.ppd.gz

I got mine to start working. I removed foomatic, cups and hplip, then reinstalled hplip, then cups. Viola, it started finding the drivers.
