avahi daemon and dbus problem

I am trying to get cups and apple airprint working on dockstar but keep running into problem with starting avahi.I get following message

-bash-4.2# /etc/rc.d/avahi-daemon start
Start dbus first

but when i try to start dbus I get this message

-bash-4.2# /etc/rc.d/dbus start
:: Starting D-BUS system messagebus [BUSY] Failed to start message bus: Failed to open "/var/run/dbus.pid": Input/output error

Any ideas how to fix this. Am I missing anything.
