Revert a GoFlex Net

Postby bigdooley » Wed Feb 08, 2012 11:03 pm

I'm thinking my device is faulty, as it had issues getting an ip via DHCP reliably when it was stock, and still has the same issue with ArchLinuxARM. Funnily enough it only connects to my router at 100mbps and I thought it should be gigabit - my router is gigabit.

Anyway, I want to return it and need to revert to the original firmware. I've tried searching the forums for the current instructions, but it's not clear which set to use. I installed via these instructions: http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv5/seagate-goflex-net

I think I can't use oxnas-revert.sh with this - it doesn't work for me anyway and complains when I try to mount the ubifs - I get unknown filesystem type.

Am I supposed to use this one:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '# Restore original uBoot
wget http://jeff.doozan.com/debian/uboot/files/uboot/uboot.mtd0.dockstar.original.kwb
flash_erase /dev/mtd0 0 4
nandwrite /dev/mtd0 uboot.mtd0.dockstar.original.kwb')

Looks like any mistake here will give me a brick, so I'd like to be sure..

....
The GoFlex Net isn't an oxnas is it :twisted:

Why do it need to be reverted, since without a ext2/3 formatted drive, with "rootfs" label and /boot/uImage it will boot directly to stock ??
