Speed between Drives

Postby Hardworking » Sun Mar 18, 2012 7:57 am

Hello All,

So I have 2 drives in my GoFlex Net and am doing an Rsync between the two drives.

The stats show a speed maxes out at about 10MB/s which seems a bit slow to me.

Am I right - and if so why? Its a fresh install and the Rsync is not using an Samba shares, its just from one SATA drive to another.

The second SATA drive was inserted after boot and Automounted - I don't know if that makes a difference.

Cheers
John

Hmm.. Forgive my ignorance, but what exactly do you mean?

I think WarheadsSE refered to the algorithm used in rsync to copy files (or to be exact, the differences between 2 versions of a same file), and the overhead associated with it. To get a true transfer speed, you can just copy files and measure the rate.
