Newbie Can't update after install libusbx libusb conflict

Postby kaixendog » Mon Jun 18, 2012 7:31 pm

I just got through the initial installation of archlinux on my pogo plug P21. Rebooted, ssh'd in, and was going to do updates.
Typed pacman -Syu and get a message telling me that libusbx and libusb are in conflict. Regardless of saying yes or no to any of the prompts, I cannot get it to update the system. It says:
"error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
"hwids: /usr/share/hwdata/usb.ids exists in filesystem"
"Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded."

After reading up a little; it seems that the new pacman upgrade will fix this, but I cannot get to the new version of pacman.

I'm stuck. I followed the instruction for installation to a T and got the installation finished; I just can't update, can't set it to auto mount drives if plugged, etc... I'm wanting a LAMP server ultimately. Any help much appreciated. If it helps; I come from an ubuntu/debian world. pacman is new to me, so I'm sure there is something stupid I'm doing.

Thanks

P.S. Additional info. If I try to install any package, I keep running into the same "libusbx and libusb are in conflict." error. Again - no matter if I type y or n to "Remove libusb?" makes a difference. I can't install anything - it keeps giving me an error "error: unresolvable package conflicts detected"

Well, A#1 I'll need you to make sure you read the upgrade note in the V3 forums. I need to swap out the rootfs from 2012.06 as latest tonight...

I will read suggested area. I searched the forums for keywords in the error I received and never found anything remotely close, but I will read the suggested if it will provide information to get me past this. Thanks.

I have read through several posts on the V3 forums and saw someone else asking the same question about usblibx, but I don't see an answer. Call me a dumb newb.. that's ok, but I don't see how to rectify and get past this. I can't install anything because it wants to "upgrade these packages now" and when I do go through that process; it runs into the "libusbx and libusb are in conflict" error.

I read the post by jmandawg regarding a blacklist. I'm not familiar with how to blacklist certain updates. Does this mean I can edit a script or file that will exclude it from checking for something?

pacman -Sy hwids --force

But this is what I was referring to: viewtopic.php?f=29&t=2453
