Get -404s on about lots of cups packages

Postby wooddave » Sat Sep 22, 2012 1:28 am

Hi - yep, I'm the noob - trying to load cups on a fresh install on Raspberry pi

I enter: pacman -S cups

It finds some packages, but lots of 404's. I tried switching to the us.mirror, same thing.

When I say fresh install, I mean this is the first thing I've attempted in Arch for Rpi. is there some other setup that needs to be completed first?

thanks - that seemed to complete okay. When I retried the cups install, here's what I got:

@wooddave, recent changes (seems like a few weeks now) require glibc to be updated carefully. That is what is causing the problem with /lib as things were moved from /lib to /usr/lib.

There are a number of threads about this in the forums. Look for them. But DO NOT follow the ones recommending the pacman f (force) switch. Those will f you up.

pacman -Su --ignore glibc

To upgrade the other packages prior to glibc, then try

pacman -R pcmica-utils
pacman -Su
