i.MX53: is it possible to run Archlinux?

Postby drOhm » Mon Nov 26, 2012 1:49 pm

Hello! I have Freescale i.MX53 Quick Start Board. I'd like to run on it fully functional Archlinux with normal usb and video support. Is there anybody who successfully installed Archlinux on this device? If it is so, please share the information about it with me. If anybody knows where I can find working Arch distributive for the device? please let me know. It is very important to make device running under normal linux ditributive (not Android, not Ubuntu).

Do you have kernel sources? If so, there is nothing stopping you from using one of our already made rootfs + your kernel.

What do you mean: Original Freescale sources or kernel sources from kernel.org? Original freescale sources have 2.6.35 version,it seems too old,(my desktop version on my laptop is 3.6.3 ) and I can't do this kernel modable(modules turned on), they are not loaded even with insmod/modprobe. If you know workable example of such "handmade", please, tell me i can find it.

A quick search of the forums turned up this: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=3915

It looks like there are far more modern kernels.
