Archlinux on cheap ARM netbooks

Postby gloomyherdsman » Fri Mar 08, 2013 2:30 pm

Hello, I'm being curious about running archlinux on cheep arm netbooks with Infotmic IMAPX220 (vivante gc600 GPU).

Right now i'm considering buying such device, just to gain new experience with Linux since i've heard IMAPX220 can run kernels for Raspberry PI as the cpu is kinda similar (IMAPX220 is ARM1136 class processor and raspberry's BCM2835 is ARM1176).

There is also an open source driver for GC600/GC800 called etna_viv (https://github.com/laanwj/etna_viv) for now only for dev use and xf86-dri-vivante driver on the net, but without any documentation.

My question is - Does it seem good only in theory? I know that boot process on arms is completely different form classic pc, but will I be able to run archlinux arm on this?
