[Solved] What's the difference in mke2fs ?

Postby dhead666 » Tue Mar 12, 2013 7:11 am

I've formatted a sd card on my laptop and extracted the latest armv5 release archive but had some trouble booting Pogoplug Mobile from the sd card.
It seems that the uboot doesn't list files in subfolders (ext3) so it doesn't finds the uImage in \boot.
Using the mke2fs build that suggested on the Pogoplug 4 installation instructions fixed the issue.

So what's so special about this mke2fs build ?

This looks to be much more strange than I thought.
I've create the partition on the sd card with fdisk, the filesystem with the same mke2fs from the Arch Linux installation guide and extracted the Armv5 archive on a Pogoplug mobile running Arch Linux.
When the Pogoplug running Arch Linux with linux-kirkwood kernel 3.8.x the uboot can't read files from subfolders.
When the Pogoplug running Arch Linux with the freezed kernel 3.1.x the uboot can read files from subfolders and of course load uImage and boot to Arch Linux 3.1 from sd.

My conclusion is that I have no idea what's happenning.
Anyone wish to shed some light in this matter ?

Never mind, something is just terribly wrong with uboot.
