Versatile Express (or any Cortex-A9) Build?

Postby srulop » Thu Mar 21, 2013 10:32 am

Hello Forum,

I want to install Arch on my Samsung Galaxy S2. I don't have root access (and don't want to change that at the moment) so I compiled Qemu (qemu-system-arm) for it, and it works.

I would like to install Arch as a guest, but for the same architecture as the host (Cortex-A9) to get the best performance. As I understand, the Versatile Express and the Samsung SMDKC210 board are the closest things to that that are supported by Qemu.

The Problem is: these two platforms are not supported by Arch Linux Arm officially (even the physical platforms, let alone the Qemu installation for them).

I am sure that it can be done, but don't quite know where to begin. Can anyone explain me what needs to be done (for someone that knows his way around Linux, just didn't do something similar before) or point me to a relevant guide?

Thanks!

Byok - bring your own kernel

Otherwise the userland works fine.
