SABnzbd and SickBeard?

Postby desairs » Mon Jan 31, 2011 7:40 pm

Hello, I am new to these forums. I just got my Pogoplug on Friday and since then I have loaded it up with Arch Linux ARM Linux and Samba. My main reason for getting it was SABnzbd and Sickbeard on my PC so when I found out it could be run on the plug I was very excited.

I have searched and I can't find a final verdict on these programs so I have a few questions.

1) How does SABnzbd affect the performance of the Plug/ Streaming from the Plug?
2) Can someone please make a definitive guide to load SABnzbd 0.5.6 and Python 2.4 or higher?

I would prefer to have the latest versions of everything so that the upgrade path will be easier.

Thanks for all of the help. This community rocks!

I can answer both, but I need to look at the exact things I had to do to get sab running.

1) Just make a swapfile or partition and you'll be covered for performance. I stream videos to my xbox while downloading stuff and it works great.

Thanks for the help. I am having the most issues with actually running SABnzbd.py because I am getting python errors. Look forward to reading what you did.

Okay well I got it running but I noticed I can only access the web interface as long as putty stays open. Is this normal? Also I am still confused about Sickbeard. Seems that there is more to that install. Thanks.

You have to run it as a daemon.

Hi,
I installed sickbeard via yaourt and it seemed to go fine but I can't find what port it is running under.
:oops:

I am finding references to changing it in the general configuration but can't find that either.
Does the web interface even run by default.
thanks

k, it looks like it isn't actually even starting.
(man I hate scripts that suppress errors)

I get this when I try and run it manually.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', ' File "/opt/sickbeard/SickBeard.py", line 35, in <module>
import sickbeard
File "/opt/sickbeard/sickbeard/__init__.py", line 31, in <module>
from providers import eztv, nzbs, nzbmatrix, newzbin, tvnzb, tvbinz
File "/opt/sickbeard/sickbeard/providers/eztv.py", line 5, in <module>
import xml.etree.cElementTree as etree
File "/usr/lib/python2.7/xml/etree/cElementTree.py", line 3, in <module>
from _elementtree import *
File "<string>", line 3, in <module>
File "/usr/lib/python2.7/xml/etree/ElementTree.py", line 1
SyntaxError: Non-ASCII character '\xc0' in file /usr/lib/python2.7/xml/etree/ElementTree.py on line 1, but no encoding declared; see http://www.python.org/peps/pep-0263.html for details

For some reason python2 was confused
I reinstalled
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'pacman -Sy python2')

and it seems to be at least starting up
It still doesn't seem to be listening but at least it doesn't crash on startup.

final problem was that the sickbeard.db file got messed up somehow
Deleted the file and sickbeard recreated it and I finally have a web page.
