Making a tiny rootfs.. for ALARM/mkimage.sh

Postby alexellis » Sun Mar 13, 2016 9:12 am

Hi all,

I've been using ALARM for a few years now on various models of Raspberry PIs. I recently built out a solution to work around some issues with the breakages in Docker > 1.7.1 (http://github.com/alexellis/docker-arm).

The Docker community uses Raspbian as their base image, and there is a Raspbian variant available which comes in at 55mb.

Is it possible to get the Raspberry PI ARMv6 or v7 rootfs and trim it down from 650-700mb to something more in the range of the Raspbian variant? I've also used the mkimage.sh script provided to create the ALARM rootfs tarball, but don't know where to trim.

Thanks,

Alex
