POGO-P21 Black "ABORTING!!! UNSUPPORTED MODEL" -- fixed

Postby JPR » Sun Dec 18, 2011 12:42 am

As you might know they have been selling the PogoPlug for just $20 & $25 at Buy.com and JR.com.
The black version I got a few days ago at Buy.com is marked as POGO-P21.
I tried installing ArchLinux as shown in these instructions:
http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv6 ... provideov3

After completing step 10 it says:
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '-bash-3.2# ./oxnas-install.sh

Here is the CPUINFO:
-bash-3.2# cat /proc/cpuinfo
Processor : ARM926EJ-S rev 1 (v5l)
BogoMIPS : 1192.75
Features : swp half thumb fastmult edsp

Please help! There will be tons of people looking for help to install ArchLinux because this server has become quite cheap.
Is this device indeed supported? If not, how can I revert back to the way it was?

Thanks!

That is NOT a P21.

That appears to be a kirkwood based E02.

Note: "PPV2" and the rootfs being mtdblock2 instead of 1

Sounds like you got lucky, maybe i should try to get one from buy.com. Wonder what my chances are of getting an E02. Does it have 256MB or RAM?

I don't think it changed anything so there is nothing to revert back.

It didn't change anything, and this is why it has a built-in checker.. just in case something went balls up in expectations, like an E02 in a P21 case :p

Thanks for the quick response!! You guys are right!! I just checked the sticker on the actual PogoPlug and it is indeed a E02 !!
The sticker on the box and the PogoPlug have the same MAC address, so its the right device in the box.
How can the E02 be better than the P21?
I'm gonna try installing again. Hopefully I don't need to undo my previous attempt. I'm just going to to follow the V2 instructions.

ran into the exact same thing here today. Got mine from buy.com and was planning on installing a headless crashplan solution but can't get past the initial install.

same message, same cpuinfo

Is there a different package that I should be using for the PPV2 pogoplug?

thanks much!

My Pogo from Buy.com arrived on Thursday night. It is the Pogo-P21 and I successfully installed the V-3 software on the device. I wanted to order a second unit but now Buy.com says these are sold out so I just got one even cheaper on JR.com. Wonder which device I'll get?

Thanks for your efforts Warhead.

I successfully installed the V2 version. Crazy that you actually did get the P21.

Is it easy to install X on here so that I can manage it remotely with a graphical environment? I'm a bit new to using linux on a server.

You'd probably be best to ask that in another thread, and in the appropriate section
