Perhaps this might help. Here are the specs of my current PogoPlug Business. Part of me thinks this is better than the Pogo4, but I could be mistaken. Can you guys help me figure this out and whether I should do the exchange or not?

The trade off is for the speeds from SATA & USB3

Have anybody tested the real world throughput of a new Pogoplug Series 4 through its GbE port and USB3 port? That is, connect a PC to its GbE port and read/write from/to a hard drive attached to one of its USB3 ports?

CPU is important if you want it do some processing, like hosting a website. However, most of us would use it as a NAS, thus I/O is the most important figure. I have an orginal Pogoplug. Its throughput seems to be limited only by USB2 speed (about 20-25MB/sec).

I ordered one Serires 4 but it was backordered. Otherwise I would test it myself. Thanks

I did read your post before asking the question. You used 'dd'. So I assumed you were in Pogoplug with ssh? That is not the typical real world scenario as it didn't test the GbE implementation and didn't go through Pogoplug's software layer.

Fine, from windows, with SAMBA running, I hit ~30MB/s to a USB3.0 3TB ext4 volume. It sustained at ~21-22MB/s

Thank you for testing and reporting.

It really doesn't seems to be a big improvement over the original Pogoplug... It seems CloudEngine just wants to "check the (USB 3.0) box".

Well then let me compare it to a GFN, wtih the 1.2Ghz & 128MB, to a 7200RPM SATA disk formatted ext3: 12.5MB/s

It that the only change in the PogoPlug Business the RAM 128 to 2 times 256 ?

To bad they did not put 512 in it.
