Linux for Tegra R15 beta

Postby muth » Sat Apr 28, 2012 8:23 pm

I wonder where you got the armhf binary drivers for the Tegra 2 inside Trimslice.

Well now R15 beta is out, with support for xorg ABI 11 and 12. But the NVIDIA page has it only in armel, in spite of the fact that the documentation mentions an armhf version. - Could you package that version, or post a link to your resources, since at the moment I can only use the old binary driver with the new xorg via the IgnoreABI option, which results in (rare) segfaults.

Thanks allot!

The drivers we have came through a special request, and recent requests for hard-float drivers have been ignored. I honestly don't see nVidia helping anytime soon, and there is nothing more we're able to do.

Hell must have frozen over.. we actually got something from nVidia other than the middle finger. I'll look into getting it packaged up in the nvidia-trimslice package. I need to sort out package it replaces/conflicts with as well.

Oh no! - Works better but sometimes I get the following which does halt the whole system:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
[mi] EQ overflowing. Additional events will be discarded until existing events are processed.

Backtrace:
[mi] These backtraces from mieqEnqueue may point to a culprit higher up the stack.
[mi] mieq is *NOT* the cause. It is a victim.
[mi] EQ overflow continuing. 100 events have been dropped.

Hello,

Maybe I solved it :D with enabling HWCursor:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
Option "ARGBHWCursor" "true"
')

Insert this line into xorg.conf (in my installation of Tegra R15 package it is /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-nvidia-tegra.conf , because /etc/X11/xorg.conf isn't recommended anymore)

Now I'm working on netbook about 1 hour without crash. Please let me know, if you have the same experience with HWCursor enabled.

Thanks

On the Trimslice, I've tried installing the nVidia binary drivers, but I think there needs to be a kernel update before this will work. There's the Xorg error:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '
[214652.718] (II) LoadModule: "tegra"
[214652.731] (WW) Warning, couldn't open module tegra
[214652.732] (II) UnloadModule: "tegra"
[214652.732] (II) Unloading tegra
[214652.732] (EE) Failed to load module "tegra" (module does not exist, 0)
[214652.732] (EE) No drivers available.
')

I'm running the regular linux-tegra 3.2.1-1 from the core repository, which indeed does not have the "tegra" module. The Trimslice kernel git has a tag for R15 with a few Tegra/Trimslice checkins, and "drivers/video/tegra" folder. On the other hand, the official Linux kernel git has no such folder.
