Run "strings" over hbplug... it might be possible to circumvent the update by pointing it at a non-existant server in hbplug.conf.

I can see
svcurl
http://service.pogoplug.com/svc/xconnect
upgurl
http://upgrade.pogoplug.com/svc/xconnect

mmm.

When I have time, I will point them to localhost via /etc/hosts, see what happens. Unfortunately, I don't have time today.

Thanks Rummy. Diverting upgrade.pogoplug.com to 127.0.0.1 via hosts seem to do the trick. I'll continue to observe.

Cool, thanks rummy for finding that out. That's exactly what I wanted to do with the hosts file. And it works.
For the record: Do
$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'echo "127.0.0.1 upgrade.pogoplug.com" >> /etc/hosts')

If you guys want to keep pogoplug functionality, don't upgrade to kernel 3.4.x. I can't compile xce module for it because a lot of things have changed, specifically mtd interface has changed. One would have to rewrite the whole mtd portion and I don't feel comfortable fiddling with it as it may mess up the whole nand... and i know nothing about it. Or wait until cloudengines releases sources for xce for 3.4 kernel :o so I can just copy the updated code.

Hmm, while I was working on trying to compile this thing for 3.4 kernel I noticed that my plug hasn't rebooted once even though xce.ko wasn't loaded because I just updated the kernel. It's been 3 hours. Looks like with blocked updates xce.ko isn't really necessary. I'll check on it in the morning to make sure
Though somehow my hbplug.conf got overwritten with new svcid and no shared directories.

The XCE module was never designed for newer kernels, and won't be designed for newer kernels. At least not by CE.

I do realize this, however the change isn't that big and shouldn't take long to rewrite mtd part for a person who is knowledgeable enough.But I guess we won't need this module anymore as my plug has been up almost 10 hours now.

Since the XCE module is not needed anymore, I wonder if we can install Cloudengines on Goflexhome.
