Optimizing SSD drives

Postby Socaltom » Tue Sep 18, 2012 2:12 pm

I had a extra 64GB ssddrive lying around, so I decided to use it to boot my V2.
Then I looked for tweaks to get the most out of it.
I found a coup,e that seem like they should help.
First it changing the scheduler for disc access

The other is setting noatime for file access ,however since we don't boot from fstab, I not sure I it's possible .
If possible could someone provide direction on how to set the noatime nodiratime flags for my boot drive?
Thanks
Tom

The "not boot from fstab" is correct, but not. If you have options set in fstab, they will be incorporated during the boot process. This also comes into much more effect with the systemd change over.

I've tried putting the options into fstab, but they aren't taking.

Fstab currently has the following
/dev/root / efs3 data=journal 0,0

I've tried adding the new options to that line, and also tried adding a /dev/sda1 line in fstab with the right options, but when I run "mount" post boot is still says relatime.

Any suggestions?
Thanks

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Socaltom', '
')Fstab currently has the following
/dev/root / efs3 data=journal 0,0

Did you mean ext3 rather than efs3?

And there should be a tab or space between the 0's, not a comma.

Yes, not enough caffeine this am before I posted. The were correct in the fstab file.
