Does `uname -a` report 3.1.10-XX-ARCH, and does that folder exist in /usr/lib/modules?

No, there's no -ARCH. It gives me

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', 'Linux alarm 3.1.10 #2 PREEMPT Fri Jan 20 10:48:07 MST 2012 armv5tel GNU/Linux')

/usr/lib/modules contains

$this->bbcode_second_pass_code('', '3.1.10-13-ARCH extramodules-3.1-ARCH')

Even before using a newer uImage more recently, I'm pretty certain that the issue was the same. The ALARM instructions for SheevaPlug say to use the uImage from a zip file containing the SheevaPlug installer 1.1, which simply contains an even older uImage, but still didn't report a version number with -ARCH appended.

On other devices there is an entry in fstab that mounts the drive/partition uImage is on as /boot
That way a kernel upgrade puts it in the right place.

The boot folder does exist with the uImage, but there isn't an fstab entry for it

The semester started for me and I got really busy. I finally got around to working on the SheevaPlug again, and I tried to add the fstab entry. The one issue I'm having is what type to add it as. I tried ext2 and I didn't work.

/dev/sda1 /boot ext2 defaults 0 0
or is it fat on a card?
/dev/mmcblk0p1 /boot vfat defaults 0 0

fdisk -l
might help

I had a similar issue as you can see from above topic.. I have installed 2-3 times on the same USB memory, and whatever i did, did not resolve my problem.. Until i picked another USB drive and install. It worked :). So if you can, try to boot from a USB ...

I finally got it to work! Thank you so much for all your help! :D

erkerb, I fortunately was able to get it to work on an SD card, but if it hadn't I definitely would've tried that!
