advice please re copy usb stick to hd partition

Postby mmoalem » Mon Oct 01, 2012 11:03 pm

hi there all and thanks for reading this
i have arch installed on a usb stick on pogo pro and a 500gb portable hard drive with media on. i want to create a boot partition on the hd for system and copy my current installation to it so rather using 2 usb ports i can use only one for both boot and media. it also save me from the problem of reboot as my hd kicks in before the stick and the system does not boot.
is this advisable? or should i keep it on separate storage medias?
if i move it what is the best way of duplicating the stick's partitions onto the hd without starting from scratch?

Sure.

- Duplicate the format of the first partition. Make it as large, or larger than it was before.
- I would suggest a tar or rsync, but cp -aR can be used as well. However, cp should not be run on the live rootfs!
